BAFTA Scotland Awards 2025: 'The Outrun' Leads Nominations with Four Nods

'The Outrun' has secured the most nominations for the 2025 BAFTA Scotland Awards, receiving four nods including Best Feature Film, Director Fiction, Writer Film/Television, and Actress Film/Television for Saoirse Ronan's performance. The prestigious ceremony is scheduled to take place in Glasgow on November 16, 2025, celebrating the best of Scottish film and television talent. The film, which explores themes of addiction and homecoming against the backdrop of the Orkney Islands, has garnered significant attention. Ronan is nominated alongside other notable actresses such as Tilda Swinton and Karen Gillan.

'Lockerbie: A Search for Truth' follows with three nominations, including Actress Film/Television for Catherine McCormack and Writer Film/Television for David Harrower. The series also received a nomination in the Television Scripted category.

Other productions recognized with two nominations each include 'Rebus,' 'The Tattooist of Auschwitz,' 'From Roger Moore With Love,' 'The Hunt for Peter Tobin,' 'Lena Zavaroni: The Forgotten Child Star,' and 'On Falling.'

In the acting categories, Ncuti Gatwa has earned two nominations for his role in 'Doctor Who,' one for Actor Film/Television and another for the BAFTA Scotland Audience Award. David Tennant is also nominated in the Actor Film/Television category for his role in 'Rivals.' Anna Prochniak also received a nomination for Best Actress in 'The Tattooist of Auschwitz.'

The BAFTA Scotland Audience Award, the only category voted for by the public, features a strong lineup of popular performances. Public voting for this award will continue until October 30, 2025. Among the nominees for this award, in addition to Gatwa and Tennant, are Richard Rankin for 'Rebus', Ashley Jensen for 'Shetland', Gary Lamont for 'Rivals', Kieran Sonia Sawar for 'Slow Horses', and Shelly McCoy for 'Gladiators'.

The BAFTA Scotland Awards ceremony will be hosted by Edith Bowman and will be broadcast on BBC Scotland and BBC iPlayer, with additional coverage on BAFTA's YouTube channel. A highlights program will also be available on BBC Scotland and BBC One Scotland on November 19.
