Garrett Hedlund, who previously starred as Sam Flynn in 'Tron: Legacy,' has voiced his enthusiastic support for the upcoming sequel, 'Tron: Ares,' scheduled for release on October 10, 2025.

While Hedlund will not be reprising his role in the new installment, he shared his anticipation and pride in the creative team behind the next chapter of the Tron saga. He acknowledged the significant effort and dedication involved in bringing 'Tron: Ares' to fruition, particularly in navigating production challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Hedlund expressed his eagerness to see the film, stating, "I can't wait to watch what they did with this, what they did with Ares. I'm so proud of everybody involved."

Directed by Joachim Rønning, 'Tron: Ares' introduces Jared Leto as Ares, a sophisticated digital program that journeys from the digital Grid into the human world. This narrative explores humanity's first encounter with advanced AI beings. The film also features the return of Jeff Bridges as Kevin Flynn, alongside a cast including Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Jodie Turner-Smith, Hasan Minhaj, Arturo Castro, and Gillian Anderson.

The score for 'Tron: Ares' is being composed by the industrial rock band Nine Inch Nails, with Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross handling the music. The soundtrack, featuring 24 tracks, was released on September 19, 2025, with singles like "As Alive as You Need Me to Be" preceding its release.

'Tron: Ares' is set to expand the visual and thematic landscape of the Tron universe, delving into the complex relationship between artificial intelligence and humanity. The film's narrative explores what it means to be human through the journey of Ares, a program that evolves and questions its existence. The anticipation for 'Tron: Ares' is high, with fans eager to see how the new installment builds upon the legacy of its predecessors while forging its own unique path.
