The 72nd Pula Film Festival concluded with the Golden Arena awards ceremony, where the documentary "Mirotvorac" was honored with the Grand Golden Arena for Best Film. Directed by Ivan Ramljak, the film delves into the life and assassination of Josip Reihl Kir, the chief of the Osijek Police Department, who was dedicated to preventing the Croatian-Serbian war in 1991. The narrative is constructed through witness testimonies and archival materials from that era, highlighting the unresolved aspects of his death over three decades later.

In addition to the Best Film award, "Mirotvorac" received the Golden Arena for Best Editing, awarded to Damir Čučić. The jury praised the film for its compelling portrayal of a pivotal yet overlooked figure in history, emphasizing the humanistic values conveyed through the narrative. The editing was particularly noted for building tension and rhythm reminiscent of a thriller, keeping the audience engaged and deeply moved.

Other notable winners include "Fiume o morte!" by Igor Bezinović, which secured six Golden Arenas, including Best Director. "Zečji nasip" by Čejen Černić Čanak also garnered multiple awards, including Best Supporting Actor for Andrija Žunac and Best Supporting Actress for Zrinka Cvitešić. The festival celebrated a diverse range of Croatian cinema, showcasing the depth and talent within the industry.

The Pula Film Festival continues to be a significant platform for Croatian filmmakers, highlighting both emerging talents and established directors, and fostering a vibrant film culture in the region.
