The 70th edition of the David di Donatello Awards, Italy's most prestigious film event, will be broadcast live on Rai 1 from Cinecittà's Teatro 5 on May 7th. Hosted by Elena Sofia Ricci and Mika, the ceremony celebrates the best of Italian cinema from the past year. This year's edition is record-breaking, featuring 154 feature films, 47 debut works, 152 documentaries, and 557 short films. Notably, 31 films are directed by women, highlighting the industry's growing inclusivity. Paolo Sorrentino's "Parthenope" and Andrea Segre's "Berlinguer - La grande ambizione" lead with 15 nominations each. Sorrentino's film blends poetic vision with introspection, while Segre's work focuses on the historical and political intensity of Enrico Berlinguer's story. A total of 26 David di Donatello Awards will be presented, including awards for Best Film, Best International Film, Best Documentary, and a special Cinecittà David 70 award.
