Amazon is significantly investing in Japanese anime and Asian content as a core strategy for Prime Video's global growth. Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon MGM Studios, emphasized Japan's importance as one of Prime Video's largest markets outside the U.S. The streaming service aims to strengthen its content pipeline in Japan, particularly by licensing original anime and adapting popular manga like "The Silent Service" and "Oshi-no-ko."

Kelly Day, VP of international for Prime Video, highlighted the growing global appeal of Asian content, especially anime and K-dramas. Amazon plans to distribute these titles more widely. Salke also noted the success of international content like German shows and K-dramas, expecting similar results from Japanese and Indian productions. With a focus on big IP and social buzz, Amazon aims to attract new customers and maintain its competitive edge in the streaming market.
