The Málaga Film Festival, running until March 23rd, is showcasing a strong selection of Portuguese and co-produced films. Luciana Fina's documentary "Sempre," exploring the 1974 revolution, is featured in the long-feature documentary competition. Margarida Assis's short documentary "Deus-e-meio," previously screened at Curtas de Vila do Conde and Porto/Post/Doc, also competes. Additionally, the visual essay "A rosa nasce nas pedras," a Portuguese co-production by Mexican director Sebastian Molina Ruiz, is in the short documentary competition. Avelina Prat's "Una Quinta Portuguesa," co-produced with Portugal and starring Maria de Medeiros and Manolo Solo, will have its world premiere in the fiction competition. The film was shot in Portugal, featuring locations such as Ponte de Lima and Esposende. "Lo que queda de ti," featuring Portuguese actor Ruy de Carvalho and music by Filipe Raposo, is also competing. "Vírgenes," a Spanish-Portuguese co-production set in the 1960s, will be screened out of competition. The festival highlights the growing collaboration and talent within the Portuguese film industry.
