Keanu Reeves has confirmed that a sequel to the 2005 film *Constantine* is officially in development. Reeves revealed that after a decade of trying, a story was pitched to DC Studios, receiving the green light. Francis Lawrence, director of the original film, and writer Akiva Goldsman are also set to return.
The original *Constantine*, based on the DC comic *Hellblazer*, starred Reeves as a demon hunter and occult investigator. While not a box office smash initially, it gained a cult following for its dark atmosphere and Reeves' portrayal of the tormented John Constantine.
Lawrence stated that they have been developing ideas for a sequel for 20 years. While DC Studios has yet to make an official announcement and the film is expected to remain separate from James Gunn's DC Universe, the project is moving forward with scriptwriting underway. The original film co-starred Rachel Weisz, Shia LaBeouf, and Tilda Swinton.
