This December, Disney is set to release a new live-action film, Mufasa: The Lion King, on December 20, 2024. Following that, Snow White will debut in early 2025, and Lilo & Stitch is scheduled for a mid-year release.

Disney's commitment to live-action adaptations has produced mixed results, but the trend shows no signs of slowing down. The animated version of Tangled, which earned a remarkable $591 million at the box office, featured the voices of Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi as Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, respectively. Although the cast for the new adaptation has yet to be announced, Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, known for Thor: Love and Thunder, is set to write the script. Additionally, Michael Gracey, director of the musical The Greatest Showman, is in talks to helm the project.

As anticipation builds for Mufasa: The Lion King, the film aims to explore Simba's father's rise to the throne and the events leading to Scar's exile. This fresh take promises to expand the beloved The Lion King universe while maintaining the franchise's epic tone.

Disney has several live-action projects lined up for the coming years, with confirmed release dates already on the calendar.
