Shein Boosts Compliance with $15M Investment Amid EU Scrutiny

Edited by: Екатерина С.

Shein is increasing its focus on product compliance, allocating $15 million to enhance safety and quality protocols in 2025. This decision follows increased scrutiny from the European Union regarding product safety and adherence to EU regulations.

The fast-fashion retailer aims to conduct 2.5 million product safety and quality tests this year, a 25% increase from the 2 million tests performed last year. This investment supports expanded partnerships with 15 internationally-recognized testing agencies, including Bureau Veritas, Intertek, and SGS.

The EU's Consumer Protection Co-operation network has given Shein a month, as of May 26, 2025, to address concerns over practices that infringe EU consumer law, including misleading discounts and deceptive product labels. Shein's response includes intensifying compliance management and ensuring vendors adhere to product safety laws and regulations.
