The 82nd Venice Film Festival commenced on August 27, 2025, marking the start of a cinematic celebration on the Lido. Among the glittering attendees at the opening ceremony's red carpet were model Heidi Klum, 52, and her daughter Leni Klum, 21. Heidi Klum graced the event in a pale pink Intimissimi corset gown, accessorized with a Lorraine Schwartz diamond choker. Leni Klum complemented her mother's style in an elegant black Intimissimi dress featuring intricate lace and a plunging neckline. Both gowns showcased corseted bodices and bold hip cutouts, reflecting a shared modern aesthetic.

The festival's opening film, Paolo Sorrentino's "La Grazia," premiered to significant anticipation. The drama, starring Toni Servillo, delves into the complex decisions of a fictional Italian president and received a notable ovation following its screening.

German filmmaker Werner Herzog was honored with the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement during the opening night. The esteemed director accepted the award from fellow cinematic icon Francis Ford Coppola. Herzog, celebrated for his adventurous spirit and profound exploration of the human condition, expressed his deep honor at the recognition. His latest documentary, "Ghost Elephants," was slated for a Thursday premiere.

The opening night also saw the presence of other distinguished figures in the film industry, including Cate Blanchett and Tilda Swinton. The 82nd Venice International Film Festival is scheduled to continue its showcase of diverse films until September 6, 2025.
