Art Deco Exhibition at Nakanoshima Museum of Art, Osaka

08:25, 31 July

Edited by: Екатерина С.

The Nakanoshima Museum of Art in Osaka is set to host the "New Venus! Art Deco 100 Years Exhibition," a tribute to the 1925 Art Deco Exposition in Paris. The exhibition will run from October 4, 2025, to January 4, 2026, showcasing a diverse array of Art Deco works, including graphic designs, jewelry, dresses, and perfume bottles. A classic BMW car and contemporary graphic design pieces will also be featured, highlighting Art Deco's enduring influence on speed and modern aesthetics. The exhibition will be held on the 5th floor of the museum, with operating hours from 10:00 to 17:00, with last entry at 16:30. Tickets are available on the museum's website and through various ticket vendors.

Art Deco, emerging after World War I, represented a yearning for beauty, progress, and a brighter future. Its influence extended beyond the visual arts, impacting architecture, fashion, and industrial design. The Chrysler Building in New York City, completed in 1930, is a prime example of Art Deco architecture, embodying the era's optimism and ambition. The exhibition in Osaka provides a unique opportunity to reflect on how the past informs the present and how the pursuit of beauty and innovation continues to shape our world. It also offers a chance to consider the role of design in shaping our experiences and how the choices we make today will influence the future. The Art Deco movement, with its emphasis on craftsmanship and elegance, offers a powerful reminder of the enduring human need for beauty and meaning in a rapidly changing world. The exhibition will showcase the evolution of Art Deco, from its early influences to its global impact, demonstrating how this artistic movement continues to inspire and resonate with audiences today.
