The 14th edition of the Mercosul Biennial, a major art event showcasing 77 artists from around the world, is being held in Porto Alegre and Viamão from March 27 to June 1, 2025. Admission is free across all 18 venues, including the Museu de Arte do Rio Grande do Sul (Margs) and the Fundação Iberê Camargo.

Curated by Raphael Fonseca, this year's Biennial is themed "Estalo" (Snap), exploring the concept of transformation. The event broadens its reach by incorporating new locations such as the Cinemateca Capitólio and the Museu da Cultura Hip Hop RS. A significant portion of the represented artists come from Latin America and Asia, with approximately 65% being international.

Approximately three-quarters of the artworks are new or commissioned specifically for the Biennial. Complementing the main event is the Portas pra Arte project, which features 63 exhibitions in 42 art galleries throughout Porto Alegre. Additionally, the Arte no Prato initiative involves 50 restaurants offering dishes and drinks inspired by the "Estalo" theme. Public programs, including film screenings and workshops curated by Anna Mattos and Marina Feldens, are also being offered.
