David Geffen Galleries at LACMA Previewed

Edited by: Ек Soshnikova

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) is progressively opening its new David Geffen Galleries, a structure conceived by architect Peter Zumthor. Currently, select areas of the building are open to the public. The complete opening of the galleries is scheduled for April 2026.

The David Geffen Galleries are designed to bridge Wilshire Boulevard, thereby uniting LACMA's campus. The building's design features a flowing concrete form, elevated on piers, and incorporates floating staircases and elevators. The museum is strategically placing significant new artworks throughout the structure.

A special preview event and sunset reception for museum members took place on June 30, 2025. This project signifies a major step forward in LACMA's ongoing mission.
