Astronaut Captures Stunning ISS Time-Lapse of Earth and Aurora

Edited by: Tasha S Samsonova

NASA astronaut Jonny Kim has released a breathtaking time-lapse video from the International Space Station (ISS). The 68-second clip offers a dynamic perspective of Earth as the ISS orbits at approximately 250 miles above the planet.

The video showcases city lights over Asia and Australia, along with a vibrant aurora. The aurora is a natural phenomenon caused by solar particles interacting with Earth's magnetic field and atmosphere.

Kim, who launched to the ISS in April, expressed his excitement about the time-lapse. He credited fellow astronaut Nichole Ayers for time-lapse tips. With several months remaining in his mission, Kim may capture more stunning footage.
