Total Lunar Eclipse Visible Across the Americas on March 14, 2025

On March 14, 2025, a total lunar eclipse will be visible across North and South America. The eclipse, the first since November 2022, will occur as the Moon passes through Earth's umbral shadow. The total eclipse will last approximately 65 minutes, with totality centered around 6:59 Universal Time (UT).

During totality, the Moon may appear reddish-orange, often referred to as a 'Blood Moon.' The color's intensity depends on atmospheric conditions. Observers in Europe and western Africa may see the eclipse at moonset, while those in Australia, New Zealand, and northeastern Asia may view it at moonrise.

No special equipment is needed to view the eclipse, though binoculars or telescopes may enhance the experience.

Two lunar landers, Firefly's Blue Ghost and Intuitive Machines' Nova-C Athena, may observe a total solar eclipse from the Moon's surface during this event.
