A model farm has been established to serve as a gene bank for multiple avocado varieties, facilitating the distribution of seedlings to farmers at subsidized rates. This initiative aims to boost local production and meet the growing international demand for avocados.
In addition to agricultural advancements, Uganda is enhancing its export quality by implementing stricter inspection controls for avocados, bananas, and pineapples. By classifying these crops as high-risk commodities, the Ministry of Agriculture seeks to align with international standards, ensuring that Ugandan produce meets global quality expectations.
