University of Granada's TMS and Food Training App Improve Eating Habits

Edited by: Elena HealthEnergy

Researchers at the University of Granada are breaking new ground with an innovative approach to help individuals develop healthier eating habits. The study, which took place in May 2025, combines Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) with inhibitory control training through the FoodTrainer mobile app.

The combined approach seeks to enhance conscious decision-making related to food consumption. TMS prepares the brain to optimize responses to food-related impulses. The FoodTrainer app then provides interactive exercises designed to train inhibitory control, helping users make better choices.

The study revealed that overweight individuals often exhibit an overactive impulsive system when exposed to unhealthy food. By using TMS and the FoodTrainer app, researchers aim to reduce impulsivity and improve attentiveness, ultimately leading to better management of eating and exercise behaviors. This combined approach represents a significant step forward in addressing the complex challenges of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
