Edited by: Ирина iryna_blgka blgka

Archaeologists have uncovered well-preserved Roman remains in Manchester city centre, marking one of the most significant archaeological finds in the area for over two decades. The excavation, conducted by Civic's archaeology and built heritage team, revealed a Roman road and settlement remains, including industrial hearths, dating from the late 1st to 3rd centuries AD. The site, located near Castlefield House on Liverpool Road, was previously the main northern exit route from the Roman fort of Mamucium. The discovery offers valuable insights into daily life in Roman Manchester and contributes to the understanding of the city's historical development. The artefacts and features uncovered will be carefully recorded and preserved for future generations.
