A large asteroid, designated 387746 (2003 MH4), will make a close approach to Earth on May 24, 2025. NASA is closely monitoring this event, classifying it as a "close approach."
The asteroid is estimated to be approximately 335 meters (1,100 feet) wide, comparable to the size of the Eiffel Tower. It will pass Earth at a speed of about 30,060 kilometers per hour.
The asteroid will pass at a distance of approximately 6.68 million kilometers from Earth. While NASA's Centre for Near-Earth Object Studies (CNEOS) indicates there is no immediate threat of impact, continued vigilance is necessary for future observations. Asteroid 2003 MH4 is classified as a Potentially Hazardous Asteroid (PHA) because of its size and proximity to Earth's orbit.
