The epicenter was located at 4.47°N, 127.89°E, about 291 kilometers southeast of Sarangani Island, with a depth of 122 kilometers. The quake was tectonic in origin.

Intensity levels varied across several regions, with the strongest felt in Malungon and General Santos City. Despite the magnitude, there were no immediate reports of casualties or significant damage. PHIVOLCS warned of potential aftershocks.
