Severe flooding and cloudbursts in Himachal Pradesh's Mandi district, India, in early July 2025, have resulted in significant loss of life and widespread infrastructure damage. As of July 6, 2025, the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) reported a cumulative death toll of 78 due to monsoon-related disasters, with 50 fatalities from rain-related incidents and 28 in road accidents.
The heavy rainfall triggered numerous flash floods, cloudbursts, and landslides across the state, with Mandi district bearing the brunt of the devastation. Infrastructure suffered extensive damage, including blocked roads, disrupted water supply schemes, and damaged electricity transformers. The total estimated loss to public and private property exceeded ₹57 crore.
Rescue operations, involving various agencies, were promptly launched to locate and assist those affected. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall, and forecasts predicted continued heavy rains. The state government is coordinating relief efforts and urging residents to remain vigilant and follow safety guidelines.
