Edited by: Anna 🌎 Krasko

A Mediterranean cyclone is bringing heavy rainfall to eastern Europe. The affected areas include southern, central, and eastern regions. The precipitation is expected to last from Sunday, May 25th, through mid-week. Rainfall accumulations could reach 20-30 l/m² locally, with some areas experiencing 50-70 l/m².

Temperatures are expected to drop significantly. Maximum temperatures on Sunday will generally range between 12 and 20 degrees Celsius. Unstable atmospheric conditions are expected in Muntenia, Moldova, Dobrogea, and the Curvature and eastern Southern Carpathians.

These conditions will manifest as torrential downpours, electrical discharges, wind gusts of 40-60 km/h, and possible hail. Rainfall amounts may vary, reaching 15-25 l/m² in short intervals, with some areas accumulating 30-40 l/m². A yellow alert has been issued for Bucharest, valid from May 24th to May 25th, due to increased atmospheric instability.
