Czech Republic Faces Storms, Then Sunny Skies

Edited by: Anna 🌎 Krasko

The Czech Hydrometeorological Institute has issued a low-level warning for strong thunderstorms expected this afternoon and evening. The weather today is characterized by significant cloud cover, showers, and thunderstorms in several areas.

Temperatures will remain low, typically between 16 and 21 degrees Celsius, with the possibility of reaching 20 degrees Celsius in some exceptional cases. The eastern half of the country is expected to experience lighter and more widespread rainfall.

Showers and thunderstorms will spread across Bohemia, particularly in the afternoon. These will be most pronounced in central, northeastern, and eastern Bohemia. A squall line, a band of stronger showers and thunderstorms, could arrive from Germany in the afternoon.

These areas may experience more intense weather phenomena, including gusty winds. Fortunately, the weather is expected to calm down towards the evening, with rainfall weakening and cloud cover gradually decreasing from the west. The good news is that next week is expected to be significantly calmer, with less rainfall, more sunshine, and gradually tropical temperatures during the following weekend.
