Egypt is currently experiencing a severe heatwave, with record high temperatures reported across most areas of the country. The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) forecasts hot to very hot weather during the daytime, especially in Greater Cairo, the Nile Delta, and Upper Egypt.
The atmosphere will be mild at night. Light morning mist and active winds stirring up sand and dust are expected in some governorates.
The EMA attributes the heatwave to a high-pressure system. A decrease in temperatures is expected next Monday, May 12th, with values dropping by up to 8 degrees Celsius.
