UFO Sightings Still High in 2025: Germany, Austria, and Switzerland Report Continued Activity

Edited by: Uliana S.

Reports of Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) remain elevated in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland in 2025. CENAP (Central Research Network for Extraordinary Aerial Phenomena) has already received over 30 reports early in the year, continuing a trend from 2024.

In 2024, CENAP documented over 1,080 UFO sightings. While many are attributed to non-extraterrestrial causes such as light effects, conventional aircraft, drones, and balloons, the volume of reports keeps the organization busy. A significant number involve unexplained light points in photos and videos, often due to camera lens reflections.

Starlink Satellites and Common Misidentifications

Since 2019, sightings of shimmering lights have often been linked to Starlink satellites, especially noticeable after launches. Other common explanations include misidentified planets like Venus and Jupiter, and the star Sirius. Experts estimate that about 99% of sightings have conventional explanations. CENAP continues to investigate and provide explanations for these phenomena.
