House Task Force to Convene Hearing on UAP Transparency and Whistleblower Protection

Edited by: Uliana S.

A crucial hearing focused on Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) transparency and whistleblower protection is scheduled for Tuesday, September 9, 2025. The House Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets, led by Representative Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.), will convene this session titled "Restoring Public Trust Through UAP Transparency and Whistleblower Protection." The hearing will take place at 10:00 AM EST in Room HVC-210 of the U.S. Capitol Visitors Center.

The session aims to foster open dialogue regarding the disclosure of UAP information held by federal agencies. It will examine the transparency practices of the Department of Defense (DoD) and the intelligence community, and evaluate the effectiveness of the DoD's All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO). This hearing is part of ongoing congressional efforts to enhance UAP transparency, building on previous sessions, including one in May 2022, which marked the first public congressional hearing on the subject in over 50 years.

Scheduled to testify are U.S. Air Force veteran Jeffrey Nuccetelli, UAP witness Chief Alexandro Wiggins, journalist George Knapp, and U.S. Air Force veteran and UAP witness Dylan Borland. Representative Luna has stressed the public's right to comprehensive information, stating, "The American people deserve maximum transparency from the federal government on sightings, acquisitions, and examinations of UAPs and whether they pose a potential threat to Americans' safety." She also emphasized the importance of safeguarding whistleblowers who come forward with details on UAP-related spending and classification policies, asserting they "should be able to do so without retribution."

This hearing is connected to a broader congressional initiative on UAP matters. It follows President Trump's executive order in January 2025 concerning the declassification of records related to historical assassinations. The UAP Whistleblower Protection Act, introduced by Representatives Tim Burchett (R-TN) and Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL), seeks to codify protections for individuals disclosing information about federal funding used for UAP research. This legislation, identical to a bill proposed in November of the previous year, aims to amend existing whistleblower statutes to ensure individuals can report on UAP funding without fear of reprisal, thereby encouraging transparency and creating an environment where federal employees feel secure in speaking out about potential misuse of taxpayer money.

The hearing will be accessible to the public and press via livestream. Media representatives are requested to confirm their attendance by Monday, September 8, at 12 PM ET.
