Reports of unidentified flying objects (UFOs) continue to surface around Air Force training ranges in Arizona in 2025. These encounters raise concerns about aviation safety and potential national security implications.
Increased UAP Reporting
Recent FAA reports confirm numerous encounters between U.S. Air Force pilots and strange flying objects within Arizona's training areas. Some speculate these could be advanced drones used for illicit activities, while others remain unexplained.
Past Incidents and Ongoing Investigations
In January 2023, a UFO reportedly struck and damaged the canopy of an F-16 Viper jet, temporarily grounding the aircraft. The All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) is currently analyzing 21 cases with sufficient data for further investigation, out of 757 UAP reports received between May 2023 and June 2024.
The National Archives released new UAP records on April 24, 2025, transferred from agencies like the ODNI, DoD, FAA, and NRC, in accordance with the 2024 National Defense Authorization Act. The records are now part of the Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena Collection at the National Archives.
