Edited by: Inna Horoshkina One

The MSC Foundation officially opened its Marine Conservation Centre on Ocean Cay, Bahamas, dedicated to coral reef restoration and marine research. The center aims to cultivate 3,000 corals in its offshore nursery by 2027 and transplant over 6,000 annually. It features 22 aquaria for studying coral physiology under controlled conditions and a Bio Lab to support research into coral health and genetics. New coral outplanting efforts have commenced, with partnerships established with BAMSI and the University of The Bahamas to train marine scientists. Prime Minister Philip Davis hailed the center as proof that development and sustainability can coexist, creating jobs and positioning The Bahamas as a leader in ocean conservation. The facility will also offer educational programs focused on the importance of marine ecosystems and coral reef protection. The center will serve as the headquarters for the MSC Foundation's Super Coral Reefs Programme, which launched in 2019.
