Zimbabwe has initiated a comprehensive five-year wetland restoration program, focusing on the rehabilitation of 350,000 hectares of degraded wetlands. This ambitious project aims to revitalize the ecological health of these crucial ecosystems.
The initiative is designed to support the diverse flora and fauna that depend on these wetlands for survival.
Adding to its conservation efforts, Zimbabwe is preparing to host the 15th Conference of the Contracting Parties (COP15) to the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands in Victoria Falls from July 23 to 31, 2025.
This global event will gather 172 governments to strengthen international commitments to wetland conservation.
The COP15 conference, themed "Protecting Wetlands for Our Common Future," will highlight Zimbabwe's conservation efforts and foster international collaboration.
These combined actions demonstrate Zimbabwe's dedication to preserving its wetlands and contributing to global biodiversity.
