The Atlantic Forest in Paraná, Brazil, has seen remarkable regeneration between 2019 and 2023. Carlópolis led the way with a 37% increase in native vegetation, equivalent to nearly 1,200 football fields.
This growth positions Paraná as a leader in sustainability. Three out of four municipalities in the state showed positive gains in native forest preservation.
Increased enforcement and technology have played a crucial role. Environmental fines rose by 70%, and deforestation decreased by 95.2% from 2021 to 2024.
