The city of Aubagne, France, is continuing its partnership with the League for the Protection of Birds (LPO) and CPIE Côte Provençal in 2025 to advance its comprehensive biodiversity atlas. This multi-year project aims to catalog the diverse flora and fauna within the commune, promoting conservation efforts.
Funded by the French Office for Biodiversity (OFB), the atlas will play a crucial role in understanding and protecting Aubagne's natural heritage. The project focuses on natural and agricultural areas, as well as landscape features like hedges and ponds, which serve as habitats and ecological corridors.
In 2025, several key activities are planned, including a night butterfly inventory on April 25th, a multi-taxon survey camp on May 17th, and a local biodiversity discovery outing on June 14th. Aubagne is also holding a contest to encourage residents to enhance biodiversity through flowers and plants in their homes and businesses, with judging between May 15th and June 11th.
