Spain Proposes Tax on Executive Class Flights and Jets to Fund Climate Initiatives

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has proposed a specific tax on executive class tickets and private jets. The aim is to increase the aviation sector's contribution to just transitions and climate resilience.

This initiative was announced at the IV International Conference on Financing for Development of the UN, held in Seville. The government aims to address economic challenges and contribute to climate resilience through this measure.

The Independent Fiscal Authority (AIReF) has warned about the impact of increased military spending on public finances. This is due to demands from NATO and other allies, potentially leading to more deficit and debt in the medium term.
