James Taylor's discography is set to inspire a new stage musical, "Fire & Rain," with a story by Tracy Letts and direction by David Cromer. The musical will feature Taylor's hits, including "Fire and Rain," which reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1970. Other hits expected to be included are "You've Got a Friend" and "How Sweet It Is." Taylor, a six-time Grammy winner and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, joins a growing list of artists whose music has been adapted for the stage. Dolly Parton is also developing a musical based on her life, aiming for a Broadway debut in 2026 after a Nashville premiere in 2025. "Fire & Rain" is currently in early development, with no timeline yet announced for its premiere.
