Reform UK, under the leadership of Nigel Farage, has announced that it will now accept Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency donations from eligible donors. This announcement was made at the Bitcoin 2025 conference in Las Vegas on May 29, marking Reform UK as the first major political party in Britain to embrace crypto donations.
Farage also detailed plans to introduce a "Cryptoassets and Digital Finance Bill" should Reform UK secure victory in the next general election, expected before August 2029. The proposal includes establishing a Bitcoin (BTC) reserve at the Bank of England. Currently, the party holds five seats in the House of Commons.
In addition, Farage expressed his opposition to a central bank digital currency (CBDC) in the UK and voiced support for US President Donald Trump's crypto policies. He highlighted that approximately seven million people in Britain possess crypto assets. The UK's Labour government proposed regulations in May to position the country as a "safe harbor" for crypto innovation, treating crypto exchanges similarly to traditional financial firms.
