Karol Nawrocki, a pro-Bitcoin politician, won Poland's presidential election with 50.89% of the vote, according to the National Electoral Commission (PKW) [Source: Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors]. The election took place on Sunday, and the results were published shortly after. This victory gives the conservative opposition a presidential veto for the next five years.

Nawrocki ran on an explicitly pro-Bitcoin platform, promising innovation over regulation. On May 28, he stated on X that he would guarantee no draconian laws curbing freedom would take effect. This resonated with Poland's estimated eight million crypto users.

His campaign included abolishing the 19% 'Belka' capital-gains tax on equities and digital assets. This would make Poland one of the lowest-taxed countries for Bitcoin in the European Economic Area. He also pledged to veto any attempts to criminalize Bitcoin holding or spending.

Slawomir Mentzen, who advocated for a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve, influenced the race. On November 17, he proposed creating a cryptocurrency haven in Poland. This forced other candidates to address their crypto positions.

Nawrocki's stance helped consolidate the libertarian vote, potentially providing the edge needed for victory. Polish household adoption of digital assets has increased since 2022. Statista forecasts 7.9 million domestic crypto users by the end of 2025.

Nawrocki will be sworn in on August 6. While tax changes require parliamentary cooperation, his veto power allows him to block restrictive EU crypto regulations.
