Ethereum Whale Awakens After Nearly A Decade, Transfers Millions to Binance

On June 15, 2025, the cryptocurrency market witnessed the reactivation of a dormant Ethereum whale wallet after nearly a decade, generating both interest and concern. This event has the potential to influence market dynamics.

According to reports from Whale Alerts, the wallet, inactive for 9.9 years, initiated a transaction. Initially holding 2,000 ETH, the wallet's holdings were worth just $620 in 2015. Today, those holdings are valued at over $5 million, representing an approximate 820x profit.

The whale address "0xcF26" first transferred 0.0001 ETH to a new address, followed by 500 ETH. Data from Etherscan indicates that these 500 ETH were then sent to an address associated with Binance, suggesting a possible sale or preparation for liquidation. The original whale address still holds about 1,500 ETH, currently valued at $3.796 million.

Currently, Ethereum is trading around $2,525, having fluctuated between $2,549 and $2,495 in the last 24 hours. The reactivation of the whale wallet and the potential for further selling pressure could impact Ethereum's ability to break out of its current consolidation phase.
