Coinbase Reduces Account Freezes by 82%

Edited by: Elena Weismann

Last week, Coinbase announced a significant reduction in unnecessary account freezes. According to CEO Brian Armstrong's June 6 post on X, the exchange has decreased these freezes by 82%.

This improvement is a result of efforts led by Dor Levi, who joined the product team nine weeks ago. The company invested heavily in machine learning models to achieve this, which has resulted in catching more bad behavior while allowing normal trades to proceed.

The reduction does not include freezes required by court orders or sanctions. Despite these improvements, some users still face challenges reaching live support. Coinbase is the top custodian of spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds.
