On Tuesday, Taurus, a Swiss cryptocurrency custody firm, announced its expansion into Turkey, partnering with Istanbul-based BankPozitif to provide institutional-grade digital asset infrastructure. This marks the first instance of a Turkish bank implementing such technology. BankPozitif will utilize Taurus' custody tool and "EXPLORER" service, connecting to public and permissioned blockchains. According to Taurus co-founder Lamine Brahmi, Turkey's high crypto adoption rates, increasing institutional interest, and constructive regulatory frameworks make it an ideal market. BankPozitif chairman Erkan Kork stated the bank received a crypto custody license from the Capital Markets Board of Turkey (CMB). The service is expected to launch by June, initially supporting Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), Tether (USDT), XRP, and Solana (SOL). Taurus is also working with three other Turkish banks, including Misyon Bank. Turkey introduced new crypto regulations in late 2024 focusing on Anti-Money Laundering measures.
