Google Labs Launches Opal: A New Tool for Building AI Mini-Apps

13:40, 25 July

Edited by: gaya ❤️ one

Google Labs has introduced Opal, an experimental tool designed to enable users to create and share AI mini-apps without the need for coding. This platform allows users to build applications by chaining together prompts, AI models, and various tools through natural language and visual editing.

Opal simplifies the development process by translating user instructions into visual workflows, providing fine-grained control without requiring extensive coding knowledge. Users can construct multi-step applications by describing the logic, and Opal will generate the corresponding visual workflow. The platform also offers a visual editor for further customization, allowing users to tweak prompts, add new features, or incorporate additional tools as needed.

Once an application is developed, Opal facilitates sharing by enabling users to publish their creations for others to use, provided they have a Google account. To assist users in getting started, Opal includes a demo gallery featuring starter templates that can be utilized as-is or modified to fit specific needs.

Opal is currently in public beta and is available exclusively in the United States. This initiative reflects Google's commitment to democratizing AI development by providing accessible tools that empower a broader audience to engage in creating AI applications.
