Apple is set to release its next generation of smartwatches, the Apple Watch Series 11 and Apple Watch Ultra 3, in September 2025. These new models are expected to coincide with the launch of the iPhone 17 lineup and will feature significant advancements in health monitoring and connectivity.

The Apple Watch Series 11 is anticipated to be powered by the new S11 chip, offering improved efficiency and performance. Key health features for both the Series 11 and Ultra 3 will include blood pressure monitoring, designed to detect hypertension patterns and alert users. This builds on Apple's existing health tracking capabilities, providing users with more comprehensive data to share with healthcare professionals.

The Apple Watch Ultra 3 is rumored to feature a slightly larger 2.12-inch display with a resolution of 422 x 514 pixels and slimmer bezels, utilizing LTPO3 display technology for enhanced energy efficiency and a smoother always-on experience. Connectivity will also see a substantial upgrade, with the Ultra 3 expected to include satellite texting capabilities, allowing users to send messages in areas without cellular or Wi-Fi service. Both models are also expected to incorporate 5G RedCap connectivity for faster and more efficient data transmission.

The upcoming watchOS 26 will introduce several new features, including an AI-powered 'Workout Buddy' for personalized motivation, a redesigned Workout app, and enhanced Smart Stack functionality. Users can also expect a wrist flick gesture for dismissing notifications and expanded communication tools within the Messages app. While not expected for the 2025 models, Apple is exploring future innovations such as integrating Touch ID into future Apple Watch iterations, potentially by 2026, and the possibility of an onboard camera in future Ultra models for AI-driven visual intelligence features.
