Elon Musk Forms "The America Party" in Response to Trump's Budget Law

On July 5, 2025, Elon Musk announced the formation of his political party, "The America Party." This move followed the adoption of Donald Trump's "big and beautiful law" by the U.S. Congress.

Musk previously opposed the bill, promising a new party if it passed. A poll on his social media platform X showed 65% of 1.2 million voters supported the party's creation.

Trump called the party's formation "ridiculous." The "America Party" aims to represent moderate voters, believing the current two-party system doesn't meet their needs. Musk stated the party is intended to "give you your freedom" to American citizens.

Musk, born in South Africa, cannot run for U.S. President. This announcement marks a shift in the relationship between Musk and Trump. The "America Party" could impact the U.S. political landscape, especially in the 2026 midterm elections.
