Apple is reportedly accelerating the development of its AI-enhanced smart glasses, with a targeted release in late 2026. This initiative aims to compete directly with Meta's Ray-Ban smart glasses and Google's upcoming Android XR smart glasses.
Codenamed N401, these glasses will feature cameras, microphones, and speakers, enabling real-world analysis through Siri voice commands. Users can expect functionalities like phone calls, music control, live language translation, and turn-by-turn navigation, similar to Meta's offerings but with superior design.
While the initial versions will focus on AI capabilities, Apple's long-term vision includes augmented reality spectacles with digital content overlay. The company is also exploring foldable phones for a potential release around the same time, marking a significant push into AI-driven hardware.
