Global Race in Humanoid Robotics: China and US Lead the Way

The development of humanoid robots has become a global technological race. Chinese companies like Agibot, founded in 2023, have produced approximately 1,000 units of its Yuanzheng A2 model, capable of performing household tasks. UBTECH Robotics has tested its Walker S robot in automotive plants. In the United States, Tesla plans to start production of its Optimus robot by the end of this year for internal use, with commercial availability expected from 2026. Figure has tested its Figure 02 robot at BMW's Spartanburg plant. BMW is integrating robots into assembly lines to improve efficiency. Tesla aims to use Optimus in its factories for repetitive and dangerous tasks. China is also considering using robots for elderly care in cities like Beijing and Wuhan.
