Starlink Seeks More Spectrum in Italy to Expand Services

Milan - Starlink, Elon Musk's satellite internet operator, has applied for access to E-band spectrum in Italy to enhance communications between its ground stations and satellite network. The application, submitted two years ago, aims to capitalize on Starlink's leading position in the low-orbit telecommunications sector. Italy is awaiting a unified EU stance on E-band spectrum before making a final decision. As of January, Starlink had approximately 55,000 customers in Italy. Access to E-band frequencies would increase Starlink's capacity and provide a first-mover advantage. Starlink is also evaluating the deployment of an additional ground station in northern Italy and potentially reducing stations in the south based on demand.
