Picasso Ceramics Auctioned at Piguet in Geneva

Edited by: alya myart

Piguet Auction House in Geneva held a special auction on June 19, 2025, featuring seven unique ceramics by Pablo Picasso. These pieces, unseen on the market before, were created between 1947 and 1963 at the Madoura workshop in Vallauris, France.

The ceramics had been held in a private collection since their creation. Picasso, who moved to Southern France after World War II, collaborated with the Madoura workshop from 1947 to 1971. During this time, he developed a series of ceramics reflecting his creativity.

The auction included pieces featuring recurring motifs in Picasso's work, such as the bull and the dove. Each piece was unique and was directly crafted by the artist. The total estimated value for the seven pieces was between 150,000 and 235,000 Swiss francs (approximately 160,000 to 250,000 euros).

Bernard Piguet, director and auctioneer of Piguet Auction House, expressed excitement about presenting this exceptional collection. The auction drew international collectors and institutions interested in acquiring rare and emblematic pieces by the 20th-century master.
