Gibson Releases Limited Edition Randy Rhoads 1974 Les Paul Custom

Edited by: alya myart

Gibson has unveiled a limited edition of the 1974 Les Paul Custom, honoring the legacy of guitarist Randy Rhoads. This model mirrors Rhoads's own instrument, featuring a three-piece plain maple top and a three-piece mahogany/maple/mahogany back. The guitar boasts a one-piece mahogany neck with a small D profile and a volute, complemented by a fiber headstock veneer adorned with a mother-of-pearl split-diamond inlay. An ebony fingerboard with 22 frets and pearl block inlays adds to its classic appeal.

To replicate the original's aesthetics, the guitar is finished in "Randy Rhoads White," a rich amber hue achieved through Gibson's meticulous aging process. The hardware includes Schaller M6 tuners, a Tune-o-matic (ABR-1) bridge, a stop bar tailpiece, and Schaller strap locks. Equipped with Super '74 pickups, the instrument delivers the sweet yet aggressive tone characteristic of Les Pauls from that era.

Gibson is producing 100 hand-aged versions and 200 Vintage Original Spec (VOS) versions of this model. Each guitar comes with a Custom Shop case featuring Rhoads's signature and a Certificate of Authenticity, making it a fitting tribute to the influential guitarist's enduring impact on rock music.
