A new study shows that gaining a lot of weight before you turn 30 can almost double your chances of dying early. Scientists shared these results at a big meeting about obesity in Málaga.

The study, done by the University of Lund in Sweden, found that people who became obese before 30 had a much higher risk of dying young. Men were 79% more likely to die early, and women were 84% more likely, compared to those who didn't become obese.

The years between 17 and 30 are super important for building good habits. Gaining weight early can lead to obesity, type 2 diabetes, heart problems, and some cancers. Things like exercise, what you eat, how much you sleep, and how stressed you are all make a big difference in staying healthy and living longer.

What can you do? This is a wake-up call! Think about your eating habits and how active you are. Small changes can make a big difference. Try to eat more fruits and vegetables, move your body more, get enough sleep, and find ways to manage stress. Your future self will thank you!
