Boost Health: maximize Flavonoid Benefits with Diet

Edited by: Liliya Shabalina

Emerging research continues to highlight the health benefits of flavonoid-rich diets. Consuming foods high in flavonoids, such as berries, apples, citrus fruits, tea, and dark chocolate, can significantly impact your well-being.

Flavonoids are natural plant compounds acting as antioxidants, neutralizing harmful free radicals, and reducing oxidative stress. Experts recommend consuming 5-9 servings of flavonoid-rich fruits and vegetables daily, providing approximately 190-300 mg of flavonoids for significant health advantages.

Studies indicate that regularly including flavonoid-rich foods in your diet may lower the risk of frailty, physical decline, and poor mental health as you age. Increasing flavonoid intake by three servings per day could lead to a 6-11% reduction in these risks for women and a 15% reduction in poor mental health risk for men.
