Vietnam's Golf Tourism Surges, Attracting Global Attention and Investment

Edited by: Irina Davgaleva

Vietnam is rapidly solidifying its position as a premier golf tourism destination, attracting international acclaim and significant economic growth. With over 80 world-class courses, the nation offers a diverse golfing landscape, from scenic coastal fairways to challenging mountain layouts, drawing enthusiasts from across the globe.

The economic impact of this burgeoning sector is substantial, with golf tourism revenue projected to reach $1 billion by 2025, a notable increase from $600 million in 2022. This growth represents a significant portion of Vietnam's overall tourism earnings, underscoring its strategic importance.

To further enhance its global appeal, Vietnam has appointed golf legend Greg Norman as its Tourism Ambassador for the 2025-2030 term. Norman's previous tenure from 2018-2021 was instrumental in elevating Vietnam's profile, contributing to the country being named "Asia's Best Golf Destination" for eight consecutive years (2017-2024) and "World's Best Golf Destination" twice (2019 and 2021). His renewed role is expected to attract high-end international visitors and bolster the country's image.

Adding to this momentum, the Trump Organization, in partnership with Kinh Bac City Development Holding Corporation, is investing $1.5 billion in a major golf resort and residential project in Hung Yen province. This development, set to feature championship-style golf courses designed by notable figures like Bryson DeChambeau, signifies a major commitment to developing world-class facilities and further cements Vietnam's ambition in the luxury tourism market.

Local initiatives are actively enriching the golf experience by integrating it with cultural immersions, spa treatments, and authentic local cuisine. This holistic approach aims to broaden Vietnam's appeal to a wider spectrum of travelers, moving beyond just avid golfers to those seeking a comprehensive cultural and leisure experience. Hanoi has also been honored as the "World's Best Golf City Destination" in 2023 and 2024, reflecting the nation's growing capacity to host world-class tournaments and cater to discerning travelers. Vietnam's golf tourism strategy is focused on attracting high-end markets and ensuring sustainable growth, with a vision to become a leading global golf hub.
