Venice Reclaims Grand Hotel

Edited by: Irina Davgaleva

Italy is investing €200 million to restore the Grand Hôtel des Bains on Venice's Lido, transforming it into a luxury resort. This ambitious project highlights Italy's dedication to preserving its rich cultural heritage and boosting sustainable tourism.

The redevelopment is a partnership between COIMA SGR and Eagle Hills, supported by the COIMA ESG City Impact Fund. The goal is to revive the hotel's Belle Époque charm while incorporating modern amenities. The Grand Hôtel des Bains, opened in 1900, was a favorite of European elites and a cultural landmark.

It inspired Thomas Mann's "Death in Venice" and was a filming location for Luchino Visconti's adaptation. The project aims to revitalize Venice's Lido, create jobs, and boost local businesses. This initiative underscores Italy's commitment to sustainable urban development and preserving its cultural legacy.
